The Zebra trademark was adopted in 1914. Legend has it that Mr. Ishikawa, founder of Zebra Co. Ltd., wanted a company name that would be memorable and also appropriate for their export business to other countries. He took an English/Japanese dictionary and, opening it Japanese style from the back, started with the "Z" words. He stopped at "Zebra".Upon further research, Mr. Ishikawa found that zebras are gentle animals with a strong family herding instinct. This was an important attribute, since he wanted to build a business in which employees and customers were all part of a family-like culture.

I was very happy with the pen F301, the first pack I purchased at BJ ' s. But this time it was just awful! The 0.7 ink was too thin ( more like 0.5) and skipped. Went through the pack to see (hoping) if I just had a "bad" one. I stopped at # 5. Decided to contact the company. Let's see if they care and contact me.

The Zebra V301 fountain pen is a huge diisappointment. I've used Zebra ball points and mechanical pencill for many years, and have always been satisfied. However, the V301 is terrible. It skips on every second or third stroke, and almost always on the initial letter of a new word. A decent fountain pen -- and not necessarily an expensive once -- at a minimum ought to write smoothly, without much pressure, and with very little skipping. There is no angle, pressure, or nib position that consistently writes smoothly. This pen is a dud! I gave it one star because zero stars was not an option.
