Services
As the new owners of a war tent, you must avoid a constant enemy MILDEW. Never store your tent damp. Dry it out completely and clean off all leaves, grass, bird droppings, and pitch. When cooking inside your tent, protect the fabric from splatters of grease, as this can attract rodents while your tent is in storage, and can damage the waterproof ability.

Great customer service, would highly recommend. Had a little mishap with my order but they went above and beyond to make it right! Sunshade turned out great.

Had a great customer experience with this company. I came in one day and discussed a fix that I needed on a windshield cover for my RV. Aaron said just bring it in and we will take care of it. I thank them for their prompt and courteous service and I highly recommend this company for your needs. Thanks! Greg Beck

I contacted them in early January about a project at my house. I sent them an e-mail with pictures and dimensions for what I wanted to do. We went back and forth on e-mail to clarify a few things and my wife went by their shop to look at some fabrics. I was told they were busy with a few other projects and as soon as they were done they would get back to me. Aaron called me and we scheduled an appointment for Tuesday at 8:30 at my house so he could do the measurements (well over a month from when I first contacted them).

On Tuesday at 8:30 Aaron called me and told me he had a problem at the shop, he was on his way and would be there in 10 minutes. I asked him if he was actually on his way and he admitted he hadn't even left the shop yet. I told him there was no way he was going to get to my house in 10 minutes. I wasn't happy as I had stayed home from work to wait for him and the delay was easily going to cost me another hour.

He explained to me that he had no choice but to stay to fix a machine and that his call to me was a courtesy. Huh? It is a courtesy for you to call me when you schedule an appointment and you are going to be late? Wow, you must have a lot of business and not need customers to say that. I called Dan at Sears Awning. He came out the next day to see what we were looking to do, made some great recommendations and is going to get started on it this week.

I am not happy at all with the service I received from Yakima Tent and Awning and would not recommend them (unless you have a lot of spare time on your hands and feel like being treated poorly)

Worked with the staff on a potential project. Selected materials and basic design. Received a written quote from their employee. Made arrangements to return the following week to have the work performed. On return 5 days later, price for materials doubled and a $75 per hour labor rate was applied. Very disappointed after taking a day off work and traveling 180 miles one way just to find out they do not honor their quotes or commitments.

As a consumer you have choices, My advice is choose another vendor who is honest in word and deed. I gave them one star because they have both the opportunity and potential to be fair and reasonable in their business practices. If you provide a written quote, honor your quote.

I came in for a specialty item - a woodshop curtain.basically something to keep sawdust off away from the rest of my garage. I worked with the owner to figure out which material I wanted and he gave me a reasonable price. It took a couple extra days to get it, but they were in the process of moving locations - so no hard feelings there! If you are looking for anything that these guys might do, give them a try! I love local shops that do a great job at a reasonable price!

I have been going here for years. The staff and owners have been a tremendous help with product repairs and design of new products. Always a pleasure doing business with and without a doubt my personal and business choice for tent/canvas, cover and repairs.

Horrible experience. Here is my story: I ordered a product back in November of 2015. It was a super easy order that should have taken 1-2 weeks tops. I paid for it the day I ordered it. After not hearing anything back by December, I attempted to inquire where it was at. They had no clue what I was talking about and could not locate any paperwork. They stated that they were in the middle of moving and packing so would look for it and get back to me.

They never did. I called several times with no answer. Finally, once they moved into their new location, I again attempted to track the item down. Again, they had no clue what I was talking about. This time though, I brought paperwork with me. Including the receipt from my purchase from back in November. At a loss, they said that they would remake the product.

Since we are a big professional department, I had one of my guys call them back to replace the order as he had a better idea of what was ordered in the first place. In doing so, he was told that we were going to be charged extra since the item was not exactly the same. I don't think so. We already paid for the item that we never received. So, fast forward to today, I go in and talk with (what I assume is one of the owner/managers).

He was extremely rude from the get go. After explaining to him that in our initial order, we had ordered three of the items and they only had two of the items (with proof from the original order quote), he became rude and stated "you guys are giving me the run-around." Of course this did not sit well with me so I became a little aggravated due to the amount of time-loss I have already experienced with dealing with this company.

This includes many failed attempts to go to their business while they were closed. One time on a Friday at 11:00 in the morning. That is when I stated that they have been giving me the run-around for an item they lost and had already charged me for. Shortly there after, he said "that's the end of the conversation" and briskly walked off. No sir, you have lost all of our business due to your behavior and the way you treat your customers.

And that my friend, is the end of the conversation. As the finance person for my department, I always attempt to keep my purchases local to help support all the local businesses in Yakima, but I can assure you that not another dime of my departments money will be spent with Yakima Tent and Awning and this person who tries to belittle their customers.

And after 8-years of being the finance person for my department, this is the only time I have had to resort to writing a Yelp complaint. Very sad when customer service is this poor.
