SBEA is America's premier association for small and mid-sized exporters, and serves as the international trade arm of the National Small Business Association (NSBA), the nation's first small-business advocacy organization with more than 65,000 members across the country. SBEA's member companies are a diverse group of small and mid-size business exporters in a wide array of industries and geographic regions throughout the U.S.
SBEA is the nation's premier association dedicated solely to forwarding pro-small business exporting policies and regulations. We have been a leading force for America's small-and mid-sized exporters on Capitol Hill for many years. SBEA supports strong U.S. Free Trade policies which can lower foreign barriers to exports and produce a more level playing field-especially for small exporters.
SBEA has been a strong supporter of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) which allows the U.S. President to negotiate and enter into reciprocal trade agreements and requires a time-limited Congressional debate and vote. The Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) is a time-limited authority used by Congress to establish trade negotiating objectives, notification and consultation requirements. It also establishes procedures to consider implementing legislation for some reciprocal trade agreements, provided they meet certain requirements.
SBEA has been an outspoken proponent of an active, pro-small-business Export-Import Bank of the U.S. as a critical resource for small exporters who rely on Ex-Im's financing and insurance products. 2002- Passage of the Export-Import Reauthorization Act of 2002 (P.L. 107-189) renewed the bank's charter through FY2006, and included new rules for the provision of loans and insurance.
