Came to get some freshly roasted beans and the service was wonderful. I did not feel rushed which is a miracle in Manhattan! Not to mention, I love the coffee I got. They have many delicious roasts, but the cafe blend in my espresso machine has been a personal favorite. Will keep coming back and trying new roasts.

Porto Rico is my favorite coffee shop. The coffee is delicious and insanely reasonable compared to other spots in the area. The store is small and charming but can only accommodate a couple of customers at a time so there is sometimes a wait - which is well worth it for the coffee. One review said the baristas only pour coffee (that's their job) and they are uninspiring and advised others to not tip them.
Imagine the entitlement. Tip service workers if and whenever you can (even if they don't make you feel like God's gift to man). I enjoy being able to go in and out quickly without fuss - and when I want to chat they are happy to engage if I do.

Wonderful selection of coffee beans and loose tea. Coffee fans will love the smell as soon as you open the door! We were visiting our son who lives nearby and couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit and purchase some coffee and tea. The gentleman who helped us was extremely friendly. We will definitely be back again!

Just devine, delish, delectable coffee! I typically purchase whole beans, Danish blend, Organic French Peru and Cafe blend are my go to's and I pick up a bag of whatever is listed on the weekly sale. Almost always, I leave with a few of those yummy caramel toffees that is staring me down on the counter as I pay. I walk out feeling like I scored a "pot of gold" and I'm smiling!

Have always heard great things about this place. I am not in this neighborhood too often, so when I was near there last weekend, decided to stop in for a cup of coffee. I waited on line for over 15 minutes for what I though would probably be one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. What a disappointment - the coffee blend I was served had no taste, depth or anything - it seemed watered down.
I almost feel like it was sold to me before they had finished brewing it. I know that their beans are good quality, but this experience really and literally left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now that I've found this gem, buying coffee isn't a chore, it's a joy for the senses. Once I turn on St. Mark's I feel like one of those cartoon characters lured along by a delicious aroma. That congeries of smells comes from the fantastic, endless selection of coffee on offer at PR. This kind of place is why I love NY

On a recent trip to NYC we found the the Porto Rico Importing Company in the heart of Greenwich Village. We were greeting warmly like lifetime customers and my endless questions about coffee were answered with patience and Peter displayed inexhaustible product/plant knowledge. Bought a pound of their "House Blend" and it is some of very best coffee I have ever consumed! I will now be lifetime customer even though I live in the Los Angeles, California. My future purchases will be via their website (portorico.com/store/). Cheers, Shawn M.

This is the place you should go to for all of your coffee needs. The smaller East Village offshoot has a variety of amazing coffees available at different weights and grinds (I personally got them whole bean to grind at home, and it blew me away with how good the beans were). The Brazilian options are noteworthy. and may have converted my household to Brazilian coffee for a while.
The beans by the pound as also reasonably priced. The staff is so nice and entertaining. They also know their coffee super well and won't lead you astray with their range of options. If you're looking to buy beans (or just need a cup to go), Porto Rico Importing is where you want to go.

I love this place. A little over a year now I've been coming here and it keeps getting better. The staff is so amazing. I want to include them all because they not only make me but everyone feel special. They make the best coffee just how you requested. They make coming to the coffee shop a part of a daily routine And to be quite honest there's no other Coffee Place I'd rather go to and I've been to plenty. Thank you Cafe Porto Rico for hiring such amazing staff.

This place is so awesome! They have tons of open bags of coffee beans all over the shop so the moment you walk in the smell of freshly roasted beans is the only thing you smell! It's amazing. I got a latte to-go which was fjne but I would definitely recommend going here for fresh beans, that's their specialty! I can't wait to try some.

I have been to both locations and haven't been disappointed. The coffee is always fresh, the shop smells amazing and the staff is really friendly. They make great recommendations based on your preferences. The prices aren't that crazy either. The only negative is the loose leaf tea. It isn't of the same quality as the coffee.

Probably my absolute favorite place to grab a cup of coffee. Affordable and THE BEST. Both hot or iced work for me. Iced stays strong too. Love all the servers in there plus they usually play great tunes. It's a classic neighborhood spot. Any time I go and sit on that bench with my dog we meet tons of new and repeat people and other dogs. Just a friendly community staple.
I even get my coffee beans from here. I've tried a bunch of different types based on questions I've asked the staff, who are always helpful. Don't forget to try the rugellah! They were never my cookie of choice but now everytme I go there I have to get at least a few. Usually at least 6.2 apricot, 2 choco, and 2 raspberry. Ahhhh just writing about it makes me wanna sit out there with the locals and all our dogs right now.

Unique cozy little coffee shop. It has bags of coffee everywhere and the smell really overwhelms you when you get in. It also has a cool vibe with them blasting fabolous. For those older folks Fabolous is a rapper. They don't have any seats inside but they do have a bench outside. Aside from coffee they also have some treats in here. They have some pastries but not a ton of them. It is a great place to grab a coffee on the go. The service is friendly and the vibe is right. What else do you want a coffee shop to be? Come check it out!

I do not have enough arms to carry out all the coffee I wanted to buy there! A rich, coff-e-copia of flavors to be experienced coming out of my coffee maker. It's a small store, wall to wall with experiences and aromas. Make sure you can get it back to your hotel or flat lest carry pounds for caffeinated goodness all day.

Porto Rico is actual more of coffee beans shop than a coffee shop. the store is small but well organized. you can order a variety of hot and cold coffee drinks (drip, cold brew, Americano, Latte, and many more) as well as teas at the register. all the coffee and tea condiments and add-ins are on a small ledge across from the cashier. there is no seating inside, but there is a tiny bench outside. the rest of the store is a sea of different coffee beans in burlap sacks. there are some small bites as well as candy, but the name of the game here is really coffee.
I favor the drip and Americanos here. the prices are wallet friendly for the area. i don't "coffee connoisseur" here but the coffee is good, hot, and has the expected caffeine kick. me like. the staff? young. friendly and chill. drops mic cuz i am a cold BREW/t i out zzz

Coffee is great, but I'm not sure I love the layout of this Porto. I'm a frequent visitor of the Greenwich Village store and that one has a much better layout. Their cashier is in the front and their coffee bar is in the back, which means a ton of people aren't loitering around in the front either waiting for their coffee or waiting to pay. I like that they're open super late, so I can get a post dinner coffee to go.

Fresh Coffee & Great Prices The Porto Rico coffee company is exactly what you want from a coffee shop. The amazing smell of fresh coffee beans that you can smell and see before you purchase them. When you walk into this tiny shop you will notice that it is packed with people but there are more than enough attentive staff to get you all your coffee needs.
I typical come here to pick up a few pounds of coffee and get a fresh cup of one of the four flavors they are brewing which cost less than $2. The pound of coffee changes by the kind you want and they have an awesome variety including organic coffee. If you are looking for a great cup of coffee for a great price with an extremely friendly staff come here. In addition there is a bench outside to sip on your coffee. In short: -Great coffee -Fair prices -Friendly staff
