Max Knopf founded the company in 1945 once he returned home to Brooklyn, New York, after WWII. He bought himself a truck and went yard to yard buying scrap metal, starters, alternators, engines and transmissions. He developed lifelong relationships with auto wreckers who had a contract with the City of New York Derelict Program.
Knopf Automotive's New Parts department provides OE quality parts and replacement parts to the automotive aftermarket. Our sales team is dedicated to providing potential applications in our extensive product lines. Products we market and distribute cover a wide variety of makes and models for most domestic and import vehicles.
The Saginaw Steering Superstores division of Knopf Automotive supplies world-class OE products to several Aftermarket segments including, but not limited to, remanufacturers, exporters, and service and repair facilities of government and postal vehicles, delivery fleet vehicles, and agricultural, construction and industrial vehicles and equipment.
The Remy Racing and Performance Products division of Knopf Automotive supplies world-class OE products to the racing market, including the steering specialists who supply NASCAR, as well as to those that supply the various local "Saturday Night" race circuits. Our products are also in use by the off-road and rock-climbing racing and performance markets.
