For more than 25 years, E. Claiborne Robins, Jr. has actively researched fine wines, particularly in France, Germany and Italy. His developed, keen sense of product quality, in-depth knowledge of production and vinification, as well as relationships with a long list of well known producers, shippers and negotiants resulted in the establishment of an integrated wine business in 1990.Through E. C. Robins International, fine wines are imported into the United States. Distribution to establishments selling and serving wine in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. is handled by ECRI's subsidiary, The Robins Cellars.

Beginning with the efforts of Albert Hartley Robins, who started his apothecary shop in the 1800's, there has been a long standing tradition and commitment by the Robins family to provide valued products for the betterment of consumers' health or lifestyle.
